Khalil al-Hayya’s son dies from injuries sustained in airstrike in Gaza

GAZA, May 07 (YPA) – Azzam Khalil al-Hayya, the son of the head of Hamas movement in Gaza Strip, died this morning, Thursday, from injuries he sustained in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City yesterday.

In statements to Al-Jazeera published on the movement’s website, al-Hayya said last night that his son Azzam was critically wounded, while Hamza al-Sharbasi was killed in the treacherous attack carried out by the Zionist occupation in the al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City, before his death was announced today.

Al-Hayya added, “This criminal targeting is an extension of the Zionist aggression against our people everywhere, and an extension of the targeting of the Palestinian negotiating delegation that was in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, 2025.” He asserted that the Israeli occupation seeks to achieve its goals through pressure, killing, and terrorism.

He continued, “I say to the occupation and to all who hear us that we are people of principle, and neither the killing of our sons nor the martyrdom of our leaders will intimidate us. Our sons are the sons of the Palestinian people, and my son and the sons of others are all sons of our people without distinction, and our feelings towards them are one.”
