TEHRAN, May 05 (YPA) – Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated on Tuesday that a new equation governing the Strait of Hormuz is currently being established.
He warned that maritime security and energy transport are under threat due to what he described as violations by the United States and its allies.
Writing on the X platform, Ghalibaf added that the continuation of the current situation is unsustainable for Washington, emphasizing that Iran has not yet begun, in reference to potential escalation measures.
Meanwhile, Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign of Iran, reiterated that there is no military solution to the crisis in the Strait.
He criticized the U.S.-led initiative known as the “Freedom Project,” calling it ineffective and warning both the United States and the UAE against becoming entangled in a prolonged conflict.
Araghchi also noted ongoing diplomatic progress through talks mediated by Pakistan.
These developments follow an announcement by Donald Trump regarding an operation aimed at clearing stranded vessels in the Strait. The situation reportedly escalated after an alleged missile attack on a U.S. frigate, said to have occurred after Iranian warnings were ignored.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) denied that any vessels are currently transiting the Strait, asserting that new navigation rules have been imposed. It warned that any violations would face firm action, while maintaining that Tehran continues to exert control over this critical maritime route.
