TEHRAN, May 05 (YPA) – An Iranian military source, via the “Tasnim” news agency, has issued a stern warning to the UAE against any “irrational” behavior that could jeopardize its interests.
The source emphasized that any involvement in movements serving “Israel” would provoke a harsh response, given the UAE’s sensitive location, further noting that Tehran might abandon its policy of restraint should “previous mistakes” be repeated.
In a balancing statement, another military source informed Iranian television that Tehran has no preexisting plans to target Emirati facilities, such as the Fujairah port. Instead, the source attributed current tensions to an “American adventure” involving the illegal opening of sea lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, urging Washington to cease using force within diplomatic tracks.
These verbal escalations coincide with a series of mysterious security incidents in the region. Reports surfaced of a fire at oil facilities in Fujairah port, while the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed that an oil tanker was attacked by shells and two other vessels caught fire north of Fujairah. Additionally, fires were reported in the engine room of a cargo ship north of Dubai and another vessel west of Saqr Port.
While the UKMTO confirmed the safety of all crews and reported no environmental damage, the origins of these attacks remain “unknown,” prompting urgent advisories for nearby vessels to maintain distance from the incident sites.
