Meteorological Center warns of thunderstorms, flash floods across Yemeni governorates

SANAA, May 02 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning predicted on Saturday moderate to heavy thunderstorms, occasionally accompanied by hail, over various parts of the highlands.

The affected areas include the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Mahweet, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Rayma, Ibb, and Taiz, as well as parts of the Tihama Plain.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Center also expected scattered rain and thunderstorms in parts of Bayda, Dhalea, Lahj, Jawf, and Marib.

The Center issued the following warnings to citizens:

• Avoid flood zones, valleys, and water channels during and after rainfall.
• Stay away from electric poles and tall trees to avoid lightning strikes.
• Be cautious of rockfalls, mudslides, and reduced horizontal visibility on mountain roads and slopes.
