TEHRAN, April 23 (YPA) – The deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament on Thursday said that the first tranche of tolls collected from ships passing the Strait of Hormuz have been deposited into the Iranian central bank’s account
According to Iranian state television, the official said Iran had “successfully forced” the enemy to retreat and that the country was now in a position of dominance over the strait.
“We have sovereignty over this strait, and the first revenue from Hormuz Strait tolls has been deposited into the Central Bank account,” he said.
He said enemies had been attempting to trigger civil conflict, coup attempts and secession within Iran to prevent the country from reaching superpower status.
He pointed broad public participation, saying around 90 million Iranians, despite differing views and perspectives, stood united, and that this national cohesion had thwarted what he called the enemy’s efforts.
Haji Babaei added that both the public and officials are calling for maintaining their positions without retreat and pursuing demands through legal means.
“Any negotiations are prohibited until the US admits defeat,” he said.
He described control over the Strait of Hormuz as a major achievement the “resistance,” claiming that the United States had pulled its vessels back by about 200 kilometers.
Referring to US threats in the Strait, he said Iran had so far detained two vessels for violating maritime regulations in Strait of Hormuz and warned that the number could increase if necessary.
