Iran imposes cash transit fees on ships crossing Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, April 23 (YPA) –Iran’s Central Bank declared on Thursday that transit fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz will apply only to ships holding official passage permits.

In statements cited by Fars News Agency, the bank stressed the charges are levied in exchange for maritime security services and collected in cash.

It added that fee levels vary depending on the type of vessel, the volume of cargo carried, and the level of risk associated with each transit operation.
