US Navy Secretary is leaving his post, Pentagon says

WASHINGTON, April 23 (YPA) – The Pentagon announced Wednesday that Navy Secretary John Phelan is leaving his post.

In a statement posted on social media, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Phelan was “departing the administration, effective immediately.” No reason was given for the decision.

“On behalf of the Secretary of War and Deputy Secretary of War, we are grateful to Secretary Phelan for his service to the Department and the United States Navy. We wish him well in his future endeavors. Undersecretary Hung Cao will become Acting Secretary of the Navy,” Parnell said.

He added that Navy Undersecretary Hung Cao will serve as acting secretary of the Navy.

In recent weeks, the US administration has witnessed a series of leadership changes, within the US administration, including the departure and dismissal of several senior officials

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also previously dismissed Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George.

According to sources familiar with White House discussions, further leadership changes within the administration are under consideration.
