UN: New round of technical talks held between Sana’a, Riyadh

AMMAN, April 21 (YPA) – The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen (OSESGY) said on Tuesday that a new round of technical talks related to the military aspect was held between Sana’a and Riyadh.

The Office of the UN Envoy explained that the Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted the Military Coordination Committee, which included representatives from Sana’a and Riyadh, on April 19 and 20.

It added that the Amman talks were a continuation of previous consultations held with representatives of the Saudi-backed government and the coalition leadership.

The Office indicated that the talks focused on analyzing the current military situation in Yemen and the region, reviewing mechanisms to enhance the security of citizens, in addition to advancing de-escalation efforts and ensuring the continuity of dialogue channels between the concerned parties.

It affirmed a tangible commitment from all parties, announcing its intention to organize expanded meetings in the coming period that would include the three committee delegations together, to enhance coordination and ensure the stability of the situation on the ground.
