Aden witnesses angry protests against corruption of Hadi gov’t

ADEN, Aug. 5 (YPA) – The southern province of Aden on Sunday witnessed angry popular protest marches against the corruption of the exiled Hadi government and the deterioration of living conditions in the southern provinces.

Hundreds of citizens went out in the districts of Aden province in mass demonstrations, shouting slogans calling for the overthrow of the so-called government of bin Daghr, prime minister appointed by the exiled Hadi, the reporter of Yemen Press Agency in Aden said.

The protesters raised banners demanding the provision of basic services and security and stop of the ongoing economic collapse, which resulted – as the demonstrators see – from the corrupt performance of the government that implements the Saudi-led occupation forces agenda in Yemen.

The so-called “Southern Transitional Council” funded by the UAE occupation forces in Aden issued a statement, in which it held bin Daghr government responsible for the “suffocative economic, political and social crisis” in the occupied provinces.

The council considered that the security chaos being witnessed by Aden and the rest of the southern provinces came “as a result of a systematically-run mechanism with political purposes aiming to subdue the South people and skip their legitimate rights.”

The council’s Presidency confirmed its solidarity with all popular demands and the right of the people to peacefully express their rejection and anger.

Southern journalist bin Awthal, editor-in-chief of Aden-based Alyoum Al-Thamen newspapers, said on its page on Twitter” The transfer of the Central Bank to Aden was a major lie, and a move led to the collapse of the currency.”

Bin Awthal asked the so-called “legitimate” government to mention a single project it has accomplished for the citizens in Aden.

“The only responsible for what is happening from the collapse is bin Daghr government,” said Lutfi Shatara, a presidency member of the transition council, in a tweet on his Twitter account.

Shatara added “In January, we called on the legitimacy (the exiled Hadi authorities) to dismiss bin Daghr government and to form a government of honest cadres.”

It was uncovered, during the past two weeks, that the exiled Hadi government residing in Riyadh hotels has been implicated in cases relating to misuse of public funds in fictitious corruption projects. In addition to the disclosure of huge expenses allocated to officials in form of salaries and incentives, and spending large amounts to buy consciences of influential figures and merchants.
