Iran’s Supreme Leader: ‘Navy ready to deliver new defeats to enemies’

TEHRAN, April 19 (YPA) – Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, affirmed on Saturday that the Iranian army continues to defend the country’s sovereignty with determination, stressing that its naval forces are prepared to confront adversaries and deliver further setbacks if required.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the remarks were made in a message marking Iranian Army Day, in which he extended congratulations to members of the armed forces, their families, and the Iranian people.

Khamenei praised the army’s performance, saying it stands alongside other branches of the armed forces in confronting external threats, backed by strong public and ideological support.

He noted that the anniversary, observed on April 18, commemorates the establishment of the army of the Islamic Republic following the initiative of Ruhollah Khomeini, adding that the 1979 revolution marked a turning point that ended a period of weakness and ushered in a new phase of military strength and cohesion.

The Iranian leader also highlighted the army’s role in countering past challenges and emphasized continued efforts to enhance its capabilities and readiness.
