Power outages surge in Al-Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, April 14 (YPA) – Power outages in the city of Al-Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout governorate under the control of Saudi-backed forces, have surged to record levels in recent days.

Local sources reported that the city is facing a severe electricity crisis, with outages lasting up to six consecutive hours, compared to just two hours of power supply.

They added that the prolonged disruptions have led to a partial paralysis of daily life, underscoring a sharp deterioration in basic services and highlighting the inability of the Saudi-backed authorities to meet residents’ minimum needs.

Complaints from residents have intensified since mid-last week, amid unprecedented local frustration over the extended outages, which have had a direct impact on everyday activities.

The deteriorating service situation in coastal districts of Hadramout is rising g concerns of growing hardship for residents as summer approaches, amid a continuing imbalance between power cuts and limited supply, with no clear resolution in sight.
