Huge fire extinguished at sponge factory south of Sanaa

SANAA, April 12 (YPA) – Civil Defense teams in the capital, Sanaa, successfully extinguished a massive fire on Sunday that broke out at the “Al-Maznai” sponge factory in the Al-Jarda neighborhood of Al-Sabeen district.

According to the Civil Defense statement, the incident resulted in injuries to a number of firefighters while performing their duty, in addition to significant material losses at the factory.

Initial assessments attribute the escalation of the fire to poor storage practices and a lack of safety measures, while forensic teams have launched an investigation.

The Civil Defense Authority urged industrial facility owners to strictly adhere to safety standards and provide modern firefighting systems to prevent similar disasters.
