ISLAMABAD, April 11 (YPA) – A new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is set to begin Saturday in Islamabad, aimed at reaching a final ceasefire agreement following a reported two-week truce.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency said the talks will take place at the Serena Hotel, pending US acceptance of preconditions set by the Iranian delegation.
The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is also expected to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier in the day.
United States President Donald Trump has agreed to suspend his planned bombing of Iran for two weeks after talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Sharif said an agreement had been reached on an immediate ceasefire across multiple areas, including Lebanon.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed the talks would last up to two weeks and be based on respect for Iran’s sovereignty.
The United States and Israeli entity have carried out airstrikes on Iranian targets since February 28, including in Tehran, causing significant damage and civilian casualties.
Iran has responded with missile attacks on “Israel” and US military sites in the region.
