Iran to hold Islamabad talks despite ceasefire strains

TEHRAN, April 09 (YPA) – Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, announced that an Iranian delegation would travel to Islamabad on Thursday evening to hold talks based on a ten-point Iranian initiative.

In a post on X, Amiri Moghadam said the move comes despite internal skepticism in Iran, citing repeated alleged violations of the ceasefire by Israel.

He noted that the talks would be grounded in Iran’s proposals as part of diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation and address ongoing regional developments, amid intensified political activity aimed at containing escalation.

The announcement follows reports of renewed Israeli airstrikes on several areas in Lebanon, including Beirut, Sidon, and Baalbek, hours after a ceasefire was declared, according to local authorities.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Iran and the United States had agreed to an immediate ceasefire, effective Wednesday morning, based on Tehran’s ten-point proposal.
