Iran warns of stronger retaliation after US-Israeli strikes on civilians

TEHRAN, April 06 (YPA) – Brigadier General Ebrahim Zolfaghari the official spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned on Monday that any further attacks on civilian areas would provoke “a stronger and more extensive retaliatory response.”

In a statement, Zolfaghari reiterated that Iran had made clear from the outset of the conflict that assaults on civilian targets would be met with a double response against enemy interests.

Earlier in the day, US and Israeli forces carried out strikes on Iranian residential areas, universities, and energy infrastructure in Tehran and Qom.

A security official in Tehran confirmed the deaths of 13 people after two homes in the Baharestan neighborhood were hit, noting that rescue operations are ongoing to free those trapped under the rubble.

Meanwhile, a security official in Qom reported that five civilians were killed and several others injured following an attack on a densely populated residential area early Monday.
