Young man killed during STC supporters’ protests in Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, April. 05 (YPA) – The young man, Ahmed Ali Hilal Al-Mat’hani, from Wesab district in Dhamar governorate, was killed by sniper fire in the city of Mukalla in Hadramout governorate, amidst widespread protests and chaos.

The human rights source confirmed that Al-Mat’hani died after being shot by an unknown sniper, coinciding with a demonstration organized by supporters of the “dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC).”

It should be noted that the Saudi-backed forces attempted to evade responsibility, claiming the victim was shot by an unknown assailant. However, videos exposed the falsity of these claims, showing the forces firing live ammunition indiscriminately at protesters and passersby.

The bloody clashes resulted in approximately 5 deaths and several injuries from gunfire by Saudi-backed forces, in addition to a campaign of arrests targeting dozens of supporters of the “dissolved STC.”
