DAMASCUS, April 03 (YPA) – A Syrian civilian was killed on Friday after Israeli occupation forces fired a tank shell at his vehicle near the border with the occupied Golan Heights in the countryside of Quneitra province in southern Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the victim was not involved in any military activity and was traveling on a public road linking nearby villages to the border area at the time of the strike, describing the incident as a direct attack on civilians and a violation of international law.
The observatory noted that the attack was part of a series of Israeli strikes on Syrian territory in recent months.
Since the beginning of 2026, there have been 12 such attacks, including one airstrike and 11 ground strikes, targeting sites such as weapons depots, vehicles, and facilities. These operations have resulted in two fatalities and several injuries.
According to the report, four strikes occurred in Daraa province and six in Quneitra, in addition to an airstrike along the Syrian-Lebanese border. Residents and activists have called for greater protection of civilians and measures to ensure their safety.
