ABYAN, April 03 (YPA) – A senior figure from the now-dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC), backed by the UAE, was wounded on Friday after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Abyan province, an area controlled by Saudi-backed forces in southern Yemen.
According to local sources, assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Hussein Abdrabuh Datha Al-Maysari, head of the STC’s former branch in the Mudiyah district, shortly before Friday prayers, leaving him injured.
The attackers, suspected to have links to extremist groups, fled the scene and remain unidentified.
Al-Maysari was taken to a hospital for treatment, where his condition was reported to be stable.
