ABU DHABI, April 01 (YPA) – Hani Bin Brik, Vice President of the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC) loyal to the UAE, launched a sharp critique of recent Saudi policies toward the Council, describing them as “unjust” and “catastrophic.”
This latest escalation reflects the intensifying tension between the two parties.
In a post on the “X” platform from his residence in Abu Dhabi, Bin Brik stated that Riyadh has fallen into the trap of “arrogance and stubbornness.” He pointed out that the Kingdom has committed direct errors against the people of the southern governorates, the STC, and its leadership, particularly regarding recent developments in Hadramout, Mahra, and Dhalea governorates.
Bin Brik’s statement carried clear cautionary language, stressing the need for the Saudi leadership to urgently review its calculations and correct its course “before it is too late.” Key highlights of his statement included:
- Describing current policies as a “deviant path” that has harmed bilateral relations.
- Emphasizing the resilience of the southern public’s stance regarding recent developments.
- Indicating that perceived “betrayal” could push STC-affiliated factions toward more radical positions that may become difficult to contain.
This verbal attack comes amid growing divisions in the southern regions and field tensions between Riyadh-backed forces and those loyal to the UAE-backed STC. These developments suggest that the relationship between the Council and the Kingdom may be entering a new phase of political and field escalation.
