Taiz: Armed men assault two children in Al-Wazi’iyah

TAIZ, March 30 (YPA) – Armed members of forces affiliated with Tariq Saleh, a member of the UAE-backed Presidential Leadership Council, carried out a violent attack against two children in the Al-Wazi’iyah district, west of Taiz, a human rights source said.

According to the source, armed men stationed at the Al-Mateen checkpoint fired live rounds to intimidate the children, identified as Fawaz Salmeen Ahmed Ghaleb and his brother Antar Salmeen, as they were passing through the area.

He added that the children were detained by checkpoint personnel without any legal justification and were subjected to physical assault and verbal abuse during their detention. No explanation was provided for the incident.

The source described the incident as an “act of terror,” saying the armed men deliberately targeted and mistreated the two children, causing them fear and distress.

He said the incident falls within a pattern of serious violations allegedly committed by forces affiliated with Tariq Saleh against residents of the district in recent years.

Local residents of Al-Wazi’iyah district expressed outrage over what they described as a “brutal” act, calling for the immediate arrest of those involved and their prosecution.

They also called for an end to armed abuses, which they say pose a threat to the lives of civilians and children in the district.
