UN soldier, another Lebanese killed in Israeli bombing on Lebanon

BEIRUT, March 30 (YPA) -The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Monday the death of one of its soldiers and the injury of others in two separate explosions, one of which occurred in southern Lebanon.

This incident reflects the escalating risks facing peacekeeping forces in the region.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the deceased soldier was an Indonesian national, noting that three others were injured by indirect artillery fire that targeted the vicinity of the Indonesian battalion’s position within UNIFIL, near the town of Adshit al-Qusayr.

Later, UNIFIL reported that several of its personnel were injured when a patrol was targeted near the town of Bani Hayyan in southern Lebanon, without providing further details about the nature of the attack.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army announced the death of one of its soldiers and the injury of another as a result of Israeli shelling that targeted a military checkpoint in the Amriyeh area on the Qalila-Tyre road in southern Lebanon.

This checkpoint is the last remaining Lebanese Army position in that area, following the evacuation of its border posts in the western sector.
