“Dissolved” STC announces reorganization of “Southern Resistance” to counter Saudi moves
ADEN, March 30 (YPA) – The National Assembly of the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC) announced a planned escalation in both political and field sectors following a meeting held Sunday in Aden city, southern Yemen.
The assembly cited “grave challenges” and “systemic policies” aimed at weakening the council’s influence and aggravating the current economic crisis.
In a post on X platform, the STC assembly affirmed its commitment to reactivate the “Southern Popular Resistance” and raise combat readiness to counter potential military developments.
It also stressed firm rejection of any “parallel political entities” backed by external parties, reaffirming the council’s stance as the primary representative of the Southern cause.
The assembly leveled direct accusations against Saudi-led command regarding attempts to dismantle Southern military factions and the ongoing suspension of personnel salaries.
This declaration comes amid heightened tensions in Yemen’s southern provinces, sparking concerns that the rhetoric could evolve into an armed confrontation as local factions push back against perceived marginalization.
