TEHRAN, March 25 (YPA) – The Iranian Mission to the United Nations announced on Wednesday new measures to regulate navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The guidelines grant “safe passage” exclusively to non-hostile nations, while explicitly banning vessels affiliated with the United States and “Israel.”
Key Details of the New Regulations:
- Transit Conditions: Compliance with Iranian security arrangements and non-involvement in any hostile acts or support against Tehran.
- Direct Oversight: Mandatory prior coordination with relevant Iranian authorities to ensure passage.
- Transit Fees: The Iranian Parliament is currently reviewing a draft law to impose transit fees on ships passing through the strait.
This move comes amid escalating regional tensions and growing international concerns over the impact of these restrictions on global energy markets and supply chains, given the strait’s strategic importance as a vital oil artery.
