LONDON, March 18 (YPA) – British Airways has announced the cancellation of all flights to Tel Aviv, Dubai, Bahrain, and Amman until at least May 31, citing “ongoing uncertainty” and “airspace instability” across the Middle East.
The decision marks a significant pull-back by a major international carrier as regional tensions, particularly the conflict involving Iran, enter their third week.
The suspension follows a strategic review of the carrier’s regional operations. In addition to the primary cancellations, flights to Doha remain suspended until the end of April, while services to Abu Dhabi have been cancelled until further notice for the remainder of the year. The airline attributed these measures to the volatile security situation currently impacting Gulf and Middle Eastern flight corridors.
British Airways is not alone in its cautious approach. The German Lufthansa Group—including its subsidiaries Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings—confirmed it will not resume flights to Tel Aviv until at least April 2.
Furthermore, Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has extended its suspension through April 7, a move expected to cause significant disruption for travelers planning trips during the upcoming Easter holiday season.
