STC spokesman accuses Saudi Arabia of targeting leaders via “carrot and stick” policy

ADEN, March 08 (YPA) – Anwar al-Tamimi, spokesperson for the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC) loyal to the UAE, has accused Saudi Arabia of exerting direct pressure and fabricating malicious charges to undermine the Council’s leadership, describing current policies as a “carrot and stick” approach.

Al-Tamimi criticized the issuance of warrants against the STC head in Shabwa governorate, “Lahmar bin Ali al-Aswad,” viewing it as a desperate attempt to pressure him for refusing to abandon the “state restoration project.”

He described the threat of security prosecution against those refusing to go to Riyadh as a “blatant manipulation of laws” and the creation of trumped-up charges.

Al-Tamimi revealed that the Saudi side presented STC leaders with two options: dissolve the STC or face the “wrath” of Shallal Shaye’s government and its regional backers.

He warned of the growing influence of the Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen), claiming they now control political and military levers in southern governorates under regional cover.

The spokesperson concluded by describing these practices as “suicidal,” asserting they will inevitably lead to a deeper crisis and a political deadlock rather than a productive dialogue.
