Iran announces closure of Strait of Hormuz, vows to target any passing ships

TEHRAN, March 03 (YPA) – An advisor to the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz is now closed, asserting that any vessel attempting to transit the waterway will be considered a direct target.

The Iranian official clarified that this move is a response to recent “US-Israeli escalation and aggression,” stressing that Iranian forces are fully prepared to confront any maritime movements in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime routes for oil and gas transport, making any developments there have a wide impact on energy markets and international shipping, the repercussions of which the United States and “Israel” bear.
