TEHRAN, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied the accuracy of reports in the Hebrew media claiming that a number of senior Iranian officials were killed in the recent attacks, asserting that “almost all senior officials are safe and alive,” as the military confrontation between Tehran, the United States, and the Israeli occupation entity continues.
In an interview with NBC News, Araqchi stated that the reports circulating about the deaths of leading figures were “inaccurate,” indicating the possibility of one or two commanders being lost, without providing further details regarding names or targeted locations.
His remarks coincided with a Reuters report citing a source familiar with the military operations, who stated that “Israel believes its recent strikes resulted in the deaths of a number of senior Iranian officials.”
In contrast, Araqchi described the “Israeli-American aggression as unjustified, illegal, and illegitimate,” considering it to be contrary to international law and deserving of condemnation. He emphasized that his country will not relinquish its legitimate rights, including its right to enrich uranium.
The Iranian minister stressed that Tehran is interested in de-escalation, but a halt to attacks is a prerequisite for any talks. He noted the current lack of communication between Tehran and Washington, adding, “If the United States wants to talk, it knows how to communicate.”
In an indirect message to US President Donald Trump, in response to his calls for regime change in Iran, Araqchi said that this is an impossible task, indicating Tehran’s adherence to the structure of its political system despite military escalation and international pressure.
