SANAA, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Sanaa government issued a strongly worded warning to the Saudi regime on Thursday against any attempts to infringe upon Yemen’s sovereign resources, emphasizing that all agreements concluded with “mercenaries” are legally null and void.
According to a statement quoted by the official Saba News Agency, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, stated that Sanaa is closely tracking Saudi maneuvers aimed at seizing control over Yemen’s sovereign wealth in “occupied provinces.”
Abu Ras noted that Riyadh’s belief that it can legitimize the looting of resources by exploiting internal divisions and controlling local proxies is a “miscalculation” that will yield no results.
He asserted that the Yemeni people hold the exclusive right to manage their resources, determine development paths, and choose economic partners based on supreme national interests.
“The Saudi regime should have ended its aggression and lifted the blockade instead of pursuing escalatory steps that target the nation’s sovereignty and wealth.” — Abdulwahid Abu Ras.
The Deputy Foreign Minister further likened the Saudi approach to current U.S. policies of waging wars to plunder global resources, noting that weakening Yemen economically was a primary—albeit undeclared—objective of the Saudi-led coalition’s campaign. He concluded by reaffirming that Yemen will spare no effort in protecting and preserving its national assets from any external interference.
