Dujarric: Closing Gaza crossings puts patients’ lives at risk

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said on Thursday that more than 18,500 sick and wounded people, including 4,000 children, are still in dire need of immediate medical evacuation to receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip.

In a press statement, Dujarric indicated that the restrictions imposed on the crossings and the extreme slowness of medical coordination procedures are putting thousands of lives at risk.

He explained that the cases requiring evacuation include war casualties, cancer patients, kidney failure cases, and complex congenital deformities that cannot be treated given the collapse of the health system inside Gaza.
