Despite restrictions, 50,000 worshippers mark 6th night of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED QUDS, Feb. 23 (YPA) – The Quds (Jerusalem) Governorate reported that approximately 50,000 worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday night, the sixth night of Ramadan.

This turnout occurred despite strict security measures imposed by Israeli occupation forces at the entrances to the Old City and the mosque’s gates.

Yesterday, Saturday, saw an even higher attendance of about 60,000 worshippers, despite many West Bank residents being barred from entry and the escalation of “preemptive” arrests and banishment orders.

Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, warned that the orders to banish dozens of young Jerusalemites reflect “premeditated intentions” to alter the mosque’s historical and legal status quo.

Experts noted that these measures aim to reduce the public presence and suppress traditional Ramadan celebrations in the Holy City.

This massive influx of worshippers unfolds amidst ongoing tension and heavy security deployment, signaling a firm commitment to the religious and national significance of Al-Aqsa despite the imposed obstacles.
