Meteorology renews its warnings of cold wave targeting mountainous highlands

SANAA, Feb. 21 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecast on Saturday the continued impact of a cold air mass across large areas of the western mountainous highlands, interior plateaus, and desert regions.

In its weather bulletin, the center warned of extremely cold conditions and possible frost formation over the next 24 hours.

It stated that very cold conditions were expected at night and during the early morning in Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, the highlands of Ibb, Lahj, and Dhalea, as well as southern Marib and western Jawf, with a possibility of frost in scattered areas.

The bulletin added that cold weather may also affect the highlands of Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Mahra, in addition to desert regions in general.

It urged residents—particularly the elderly, children, and the patients—in mountainous and plateau areas to take precautions against the severe cold wave.

Additionally, farmers were advised to implement necessary measures to protect crops from frost damage, while travelers to cold regions were encouraged to follow preventive guidelines to avoid cold-related risks.
