Saudi-backed forces take control over main checkpoints, entrances to Aden

ADEN, Feb. 21 (YPA) – The Saudi-funded “Homeland Shield Forces” (Deraa Al-Watan), took over security duties at key checkpoints and vital entrances to the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Friday evening.

Field sources confirmed that the handover took place officially, in a move aimed at strengthening security control over the city and limiting any movements loyal to the dissolved Southern Transitional Council.

These developments come within the framework of efforts to end the armed influence of factions affiliated with the dissolved council, following recent tensions around Ma’ashiq Palace.

On the other hand, Saudi-backed forces launched a wide-scale arrest campaign targeting a number of Transitional Council activists who participated in Ma’ashiq Palace protests on Thursday night.

The sources indicated that among those arrested were Al-Rusi Al-Azibi and Raouf Al-Subaihi, who were taken to an unknown location.
