Meteorological center warns of severe cold wave over next 24 hours

SANAA, Feb. 19 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning on Thursday issued a warning regarding a severe cold wave expected to strike the mountain highlands, parts of the interior plateaus, and desert areas over the next 24 hours.

In its weather bulletin, the center expected extremely cold conditions in the governorates of (Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, northern Ibb, and Jawf), with a high probability of frost formation.

It also expected cold conditions in the highlands of (Hajjah, Mahweet, Raymah, Taiz, Dhalea, Lahj, and Abyan), extending to parts of the deserts and plateaus of Shabwa and Hadramout.

The center urged citizens—particularly the elderly, children, and travelers—to take necessary precautions against the extreme cold. It also called upon farmers to take immediate measures to protect their crops from the potential impact of frost.
