GAZA, Feb. 17 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned Israeli occupation authorities’ arrest of Sheikh Mohammed Ali Al-Abbasi, Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and handing him an order banning him from the mosque, affirming that this measure constitutes blatant interference in the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque and a rejected assault on its imams.
“The escalating violations by the fascist occupation government against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, including imposing restrictions on worshippers’ entry, obstructing logistical preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, and intensifying the incursions of settlers, all represent dangerous interventions as part of its ongoing attempts to tighten its grip on the mosque, Judaize it, restrict freedom of worship there, and impose temporal and spatial division,” Hamas said in a statement.
“Reiterating that all measures and decisions taken by the occupation authority on our Palestinian land, particularly in Jerusalem and at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, are null and void,” the statement read.
The Movement called on the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the occupied land of 1948 to maintain a steadfast presence at Al-Aqsa and confront the plans aimed at undermining its identity
Hamas also called on the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the Arab and Islamic nations — states, governments, and peoples – to take urgent action through all available tracks to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from the danger of Judaization and to adopt practical steps that pressure the occupation to stop its violations.
