SANAA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – Traffic police in Yemen’s capital Sanaa said on Thursday they had arrested a driver who fled the scene after a hit-and-run accident that left one man dead and a woman seriously injured.
According to a statement issued by traffic police in the Maeen district, the incident occurred on 60th Street in front of Yemen University.
The vehicle, described as a Kia without license plates, struck Abdullah al-Badawi and his wife before the driver fled the scene.
Police said investigation teams began tracking the vehicle immediately after receiving the report, coordinating with security authorities to identify the car and locate the driver.
The suspect was arrested and the vehicle seized in less than 24 hours, the statement said.
The injured woman was transferred to hospital for treatment, while the driver and the vehicle were referred to the relevant authorities for legal procedures.
