GAZA, Feb. 12 (YPA) –A Palestinian detainee identified as Hatem Rayan from northern Gaza died in Israeli custody, amid mounting concerns over violations against detainees, particularly those from Gaza, family and human rights sources said on Thursday.
Rayan’s family said they were notified of his death, while the Israeli Prison Service has not provided any official explanation regarding the circumstances.
The announcement comes as Palestinian prisoners face difficult humanitarian conditions, especially those from northern Gaza detained during recent ground operations.
According to human rights data, roughly 10,000 Palestinian prisoners are held in Israeli jails, with ongoing reports of rights violations. More than 90 prisoners have died over the past two years, and the bodies of some remain withheld.
