Iran: Mass rallies mark 47th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution

TEHRAN, Feb. 11 (YPA) -Mass rallies were held across Iranian provinces and cities on Wednesday to mark the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Participants carried Iranian and Palestinian flags and chanted slogans supporting the government.

The rallies took place in Tehran and more than 1,200 other cities nationwide.

President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian participated in the nationwide 22 Bahman rally marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, joining crowds from rural districts to central urban routes alongside senior state and military leadership.

Present at the rallies were top commanders of the Iranian Armed Forces, the speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice of Iran, and numerous high-ranking officials.

The President was accompanied by Mohammad Jafar Qaempanah, Executive Deputy President, and Mohsen Hajimirzaei, Chief of Staff.

Speaking during the rallies, Gen. Mousavi said, “All our success and pride comes from the faith, steadfastness, insight, and awareness of our people. The Iranian people will thwart the enemies and their plans.”

He added, “Iran’s enemies will be filled with despair because of this people.”

In the same context, Mokhtar Haddad, Editor-in-Chief of the Iranian newspaper Al-Wefaq, told media outlets that the strong turnout sends both moral and political messages.

He emphasized that the Iranian people and armed forces remain aligned with diplomacy and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Haddad added that the goal of foreign pressure on Iran is to topple its government, but the unity of the people demonstrates continued support for the leadership.

He stressed that Iran remains firm in negotiations, which are limited to the nuclear file, and will not compromise on its defensive capabilities. Referring to Iran’s military strength, Haddad said, “It is not guaranteed that US warships would return home if a war breaks out.”

Media reports highlighted the significant participation of young Iranians in the rallies.

Crowds gathered in Bandar Abbas and hundreds of other cities, signaling domestic unity despite sanctions, external threats, and pressure aimed at weakening the bond between the people and the government.

This year’s anniversary comes after a 12-day US-Israeli military confrontation with Iran in June 2025, amid renewed US threats of further attacks, foreign-backed armed unrest—including reportedly by Mossad and the United States—earlier this year, and ongoing indirect negotiations hosted in Muscat.
