Arab, Islamic countries condemn occupation’s measures to impose illegitimate sovereignty in West Bank

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 10 (YPA) – Arab and Islamic countries expressed their rejection on Tuesday of new Israeli measures aimed at imposing illegitimate sovereignty and entrenching settlements in the occupied West Bank.

This came in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Indonesia, and Pakistan, in addition to separate statements by Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

On Sunday, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved decisions aimed at changing the legal and civil status of the occupied West Bank, with the goal of strengthening control over it.

The eight countries condemned “in the strongest terms the illegal Israeli decisions and measures aimed at imposing illegitimate Israeli sovereignty, entrenching settlements, and imposing a new legal and administrative reality in the occupied West Bank.”

The joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Indonesia, and Pakistan warned that the new occupation decisions legitimize “attempts to illegally annex the West Bank and displace the Palestinian people.”

They stressed that “Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory,” and all these measures are null, void” and lacking any legal effect.

They also warned that the continuation of Israel’s expansionist policies and illegal actions in the occupied West Bank “fuels violence and conflict in the region.”

The Foreign Ministers expressed their absolute rejection of these illegal measures, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and undermine the two-state solution and ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
