EU condemns Israeli occupation’s measures to control West Bank
BRUSSELS, Feb. 09 (YPA) – The European Union (EU) on Monday condemned “Israel’s” latest measures to consolidate its control over the West Bank and pave the way for further settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“The EU condemns the recent decisions taken by the Israeli Security Cabinet to extend Israeli control over the West Bank. This is another step in the wrong direction,” EU spokesperson Anouar El-Anouni told reporters.
The spokesperson reiterated that the EU does not recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
He added, “In accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, we reaffirm that annexation is illegal under international law.”
El-Anouni stressed that “any concrete action taken in this direction constitutes a violation of international law.”
