MOCHA, Feb. 01 (YPA) – Aviation sources revealed on Sunday that a Yemenia Airways flight was unable to land at Mocha Airport in western Taiz province, forcing the aircraft to return to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
No official explanation has been provided for the incident.
Flight tracking data showed the aircraft departing from Jeddah and circling over the Red Sea before entering Yemeni airspace. It was then forced to abort its landing and head back to Saudi Arabia.

Authorities at Mocha Airport have not yet clarified the reasons for the failed landing, which coincided with reports of preparations for the airport’s official opening following years of construction and use primarily for military flights.
This operational failure occurs amidst the ongoing suffering of Yemeni patients due to the forced closure of Sanaa International Airport. Many are compelled to endure grueling and costly overland journeys to Aden or Sayoun airports to seek medical treatment abroad.
The Mocha Airport, located near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, was expected to serve as a vital link to alleviate the travel crisis facing Yemenis for the tenth consecutive year.
