WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (YPA) – Protesters took to the streets in cities across the United States on Tuesday to mark the first anniversary of President Donald Trump’s inauguration for a second term.
They protested against his administration’s policies regarding immigration and foreign affairs.
It is worth noting that Trump began his second year of his second term in office on Tuesday.
In Los Angeles, protesters demanded that the government not detain people without due process under the pretext of preventing illegal immigration. The city has a large immigrant population from Central and South America.
In Washington, D.C., one protester said, “The American people want Congress to show us some support.” Supporters responded that they have the power to change society.
Demonstrations were also held in front of Trump Tower in New York. One protester described the past year as confusing, chaotic, frustrating, and oppressive. She said this is not the America she wants.
