OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 19 (YPA) – An Israeli reserve general said on Monday that concerns over Iran’s potential response were the key reason behind halting a planned US strike on Iran.
Former Navy Commander Eliezer “Chiney” Marom, said that what stopped the strike was Israel’s assessment of the consequences of an Iranian retaliation following such an attack.
Marom said he believed US President Donald Trump had favored a “one strike and done” approach, but that “Israel” warned against it.
A single strike, he said, would likely fail to topple the Iranian regime while exposing “Israel” to a major Iranian response, including a large barrage of missiles that would be difficult to intercept.
He added that while the United States would target Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Basij sites, “Israel” would be left preoccupied with defending against incoming missile strikes.
