Meteorology warns cold wave in mountainous areas, interior plateaus

SANAA, Jan. 14 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology has forecast the continuation of cold to very cold weather across mountainous highlands, deserts, and inland plateaus.

In its latest weather bulletin, the center said that cold to very cold conditions may be expected during nighttime and early morning hours in the provinces of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, as well as the highlands of Lahj and Abyan, with the possibility of frost in limited areas.

Cold weather is also anticipated in the highlands of Hajjah, Mahweet, Rayma, Ibb, Taiz, Jawf, and Marib, in addition to the plateaus and deserts of Shabwa and Hadramout.

It called on residents of mountainous regions, deserts, and inland plateaus, particularly the elderly, children, the sick, and night-time workers, to take necessary precautions against the cold.

The center also advised farmers to implement protective measures to safeguard their agricultural crops.
