GAZA, Jan. 12 (YPA) – A seven-day-old baby girl and a four-year-old girl died om Monday The Gaza-based Ministry of Health said in a statement that the two-month-old infant Mohammed Wissam Abu Hurbid died last night in Gaza City, as a result of the extreme cold, in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions suffered by the population.
For its part, the Government Information Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that the number of deaths from severe cold in the displacement camps has risen to 21 cases, including 18 children, as a result of the repercussions of the two-year-old Israeli genocidal war.
These death toll come at a time when the Gaza Strip is suffering from an acute shortage of heating means and adequate shelter, in conjunction with the continuous deterioration of living and health conditions, which increases the risk of exposing children, especially infants, to fatal complications due to cold.
The health authorities warned that the number of victims would continue to rise if the cold wave continues without providing urgent relief supplies, calling for immediate humanitarian action to protect the most vulnerable groups, especially children.
