SANAA, Aug. 2 (YPA) – A United Nations official on Thursday said millions of Yemenis depend on a single meal every two days.
“Millions of Yemenis do not know from where their next meal will come, and most of them eat once every two days,” the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Lise Grande, said in a statement issued by the UN website on Thursday.
“Many Yemeni families have only two meals a week,” she added.
The UN coordinator warned of the effects of the air bombardment on the water and sanitation systems in the province of Hodeidah, pointing to the presence of cholera cases in the province.
She noted that the humanitarian crisis in Yemen is the largest in the world, adding that “75% of Yemeni civilians depend on a kind of the humanitarian assistance and protection, a percentage not found in any other country in the world.”
