Sanaa negotiating team member comments on Riyadh hosting Southern dialogue
SANAA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – Abdulmalik Alejri, a member of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, commented on Riyadh’s move to host a so-called “Southern-Southern Dialogue.”
He explained that this development follows the military conflict between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which resulted in the reduction of Emirati influence and its affiliated armed factions—primarily the “Southern Transitional Council” (STC)—within “occupied Yemeni governorates.”
Alejri stated on his “X” account that events have proven that foreign intervention has only further complicated the Yemeni crisis. He noted that the UAE’s withdrawal is an insufficient step unless followed by the withdrawal of all remaining foreign forces.
The Sanaa delegation member emphasized that no neighboring country can lead a solution or mediation while being involved as a party to the conflict. He added that “Yemeni forces still seeking solutions in foreign capitals will not find them.”
Abdulmalik Alejri (@alejri77) January 5, 2026
