Saudi newspaper drops bombshell, revealing chapters of “Emirati plot” to destroy Socotra, bribe ministers

RIYADH, Jan. 06 (YPA) – The Saudi newspaper ‘Al-Watan’ has detonated a high-caliber political bombshell by revealing details of what it described as a “subversive Emirati plot” aimed at undermining the foundations of the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions.

The Saudi report disclosed serious breaches committed by Abu Dhabi within the structure of the Yemeni government. The plan relied on a “policy of inducements” to attract ministers and high-ranking officials, with the goal of pushing them to defect from the “Legitimacy.”

The newspaper clarified that the UAE worked systematically to sow seeds of division and schism within the Presidential Leadership Council and the government (loyal to the Saudi-led coalition) to ensure the weakening of Yemeni national decision-making and the passage of private agendas.

The Saudi accusations were not limited to the political sphere but extended to “sovereign crimes.” The report accused the UAE of exercising full control over Socotra Island and working to “destroy its tourism sector and unique environment” in an attempt to alter the island’s historical identity.

In parallel, the newspaper monitored an escalation of gross violations against civilians in the city of Aden, committed by armed factions acting under direct orders from Abu Dhabi.

These shocking revelations come to crown a series of military and field clashes that recently erupted between the two pillars of the coalition in eastern Yemen—confrontations that led the UAE to announce its withdrawal from the country under field pressure.

Observers believe that the emergence of these accusations via an official Saudi media platform means that Riyadh has completely lifted the cover off the Emirati role. This signals a new phase of open confrontation between the two former allies after back-channel influence struggles reached a dead end.
