Meteorological center renews warnings about cold wave sweeping Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning on Monday renewed warnings of cold to extremely cold wave affecting mountainous areas, deserts, and internal plateaus.

In weather forecast, the center cautioned the elderly, children, patients, and night-time workers to take necessary precautions, especially during late night and early morning hours.

The center affirmed that very cold conditions are expected across Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, northern Ibb, western Jawf, and southern Marib, with frost formation likely in some areas. In addition, Hajjah, Mahweet, Rayma, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, and the highlands of Shabwa, Hadramout, and Mahra will be impacted with cold wave.

Clear to partly cloudy skies, with a chance of light rain over parts of the Socotra Archipelago, the air forecast added. Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally active in the southern Red Sea coast, Bab al-Mandab, and around Socotra, reaching up to 25 knots.

It clarified that clear and cold conditions at night and early morning, with moderate to occasionally strong winds raising dust and sand.
