Gaza: Five Palestinians injured after residential building collapse in Maghazi refugee camp

GAZA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – Several Palestinians were injured and others are missing after a residential building collapsed in the Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Monday.

According to Palestinian sources, five people were injured, some critically, and dozens of residents remain missing after the four-story building collapsed at dawn.

The building had previously been damaged by Israeli airstrikes and collapsed completely due to the intense bombardment that occupation forces have been carrying out daily in the eastern Maghazi area and other eastern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Civil Defense warned that around 30,000 buildings across the Gaza Strip are at risk of collapse, threatening the lives of approximately 150,000 people.

Mohammed Al-Mughayir, director of supplies and equipment at the Civil Defense, urged the people to immediately evacuate, saying that the danger extends beyond damaged homes to surrounding streets and nearby buildings due to unstable structures.

He further explained that intensive bombardment over the past two years has caused deep fractures and perilous changes in the soil, comparable to minor earthquakes.
