Yemeni officials make first public appearance since Israeli strike on Sanaa

SANAA, Jan. 05 (YPA) -The Sanaa government held its regular meeting, chaired by the acting prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed Muftah, marking the first official public appearance of state leaders since the ‘treacherous’ Israeli strike on the capital, Sanaa, at the end of August 2025.

The meeting prominently featured the attendance of Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammed Nasser Al-Atifi and Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs Maj. Gen. Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, who appeared in good health and high spirits after recovering from injuries sustained in the Israeli attack last August.

This public appearance was seen as an official declaration of the failure of the Israeli aggression to eliminate senior military and security leaders, and as confirmation of the cohesion and resilience of the armed forces in the face of challenges.

The cabinet opened the session with a recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the Government martyrs and the martyrs of the Battle of the Promised Victory and Sacred Jihad ” campaign, foremost among them Chief of the General Staff, the late Lt. Gen. Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Ghamari, who “fell in the fields of honor and dignity.”

Officials affirmed that the blood of the martyrs would fuel the upcoming escalation phase.

During the meeting, Al-Atifi and Al-Ruwaishan reviewed progress in implementing governmental and field tasks in line with the directives of the “Leader of the Revolution,” Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din Al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat.

The government stressed that the armed forces are at the highest levels of readiness for the next round of confrontation with Israeli entity and its regional allies, adding that continued strikes would only strengthen Yemen’s determination to support the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Mohammed Muftah noted that the appearance of the defense and security leadership at this particular moment — and in this “reassuring manner” — boosts the morale of both the people and the army, sending a clear message that Sanaa is capable of absorbing blows and responding with greater force.

He stressed the continuation of general mobilization and heightened security and military readiness to address any potential developments.

The meeting approved several organizational decisions under the ‘Radical Change’ program and reviewed rapid developments in the southern and eastern occupied governorates, reiterating Yemen’s condemnation of Israeli interference in regional sovereignty.
